The art display is hosted under the umbrella of Doha Festival City’s ‘Qatar Unites Us’ CSR initiative
Doha Festival City, Qatar's one and only choice for shopping, dining, and entertainment, is pleased to bring a unique interactive art exhibition to promote local talents within Qatar community.
Committed to supporting Qatar’s artists, Festival City will offer local painters their own canvas to unleash their artistic talent live during the mall’s working hours, on the first floor West - South hallway. Once finished, the paintings will be displayed across the mall, allowing guests to enjoy their shopping journey with a unique cultural experience.
The paintings will be part of Festival City art collections, and will be showcased through interactive hoardings in different areas across the mall. Providing a unique platform to local artists and promoting their talents, the exhibition will also engage with the visitors, who will be able to take photographs and create memorable moments at their favorite mall.
The self-taught Romanian artist, Cristina Dinu, a member of Doha Artist Collective Group, said: “Sports is a universal language, and therefore I decided to link my artworks to the much-awaited 2022 FIFA World Cup. It will be the first time I will explore a larger-scale art form, and I’m looking forward to this amazing learning experience”.
Another featured independent artist from Pakistan, Erum Khalid, will showcase artworks representing the diversity of nationalities living in Qatar, reflecting the main theme of ‘Qatar Unites Us’ initiative.
For Shihar Hamza, a self-taught artist and a member of International Artist Doha and The Indian Art community, art is an expression of feelings and a domain of an absolute freedom: “Art is my passion, and I am grateful to Doha Festival City for offering me another wonderful opportunity to share my vision of the world with Qatar community ”.
Robert Hall, Doha Festival City General Manager, said: “We are pleased to launch this initiative that will further enrich Qatar’s cultural scene and nurture local artistic talent. As an engaged community player, we are committed to investing in developing Qatar’s art scene by providing artists with a creative space to express their talent, while offering visitors a unique cultural experience throughout their visit.”
Doha Festival City opening hours are Saturday to Wednesday from 10am to 10 pm, and Thursday to Friday from 10am to 11pm. In line with the preventative measures set out by the authorities, Doha Festival City has introduced stringent health and safety measures throughout the mall for its staff and visitors. This includes a thorough mall disinfection treatment on a weekly basis, robust cleaning, and sanitization operations during mall trading hours, 225 hand sanitizing stations installed in the areas that have commonly touched surfaces.
