With Back-to-School upon us, many children and families will have engaged in new supply buys, which makes it the perfect opportunity to share all old books and school essentials with children in need. In collaboration with Red Crescent, Festival Plaza, part of Al-Futtaim Malls, is collecting any and all old reading books, along with school supplies such as school text books, unused notebooks and useable material that can be shared and passed on to children in need.
In line with it’s vision of bringing the community into all that it does and under the #FestivalCares initiative, Festival Plaza has installed a book share point at the mall for shoppers to donate their books and school supplies. Families can drop off the books at the special Tree of Knowledge Book share point that is located in the ground floor of the mall and Festival Plaza will arrange the books and suppliesto go through to Red Crescent to donate to children in need
The Festival Plaza Tree of Knowledge Book Share program will continue to run and book donations will happen every quarter to create a channel of continuous giving from our community to other communities in need.
Speaking ahead of the donation drive, David Huesser, Director of Asset Management at Festival Plaza had this to say: “Part of our brand values is to stand for and with the community so we are pleased to introduce another initative that involves the community to give back to those who need. This wouldn’t be possible without the support of our community members and we hope to bring smiles on many children’s faces by supporting families in partnership with Red Crescent.”
Located at Jebel Ali, Festival Plaza is within close proximity of Al Furjan and Jebel Ali Village as well as minutes away from Marina, The Palm, JLT, Jumeirah Park and Islands, Tecom and Discovery Gardens. The mall is also offering great discounts on back-to-school collection across its retail stores.
The partnership with the Red Crescent comes under the umbrella of Festival Cares, Al-Futtaim Malls’ CSR program that looks to engage with communities, support tenants and retailers and connect with customers. Emirates Red Crescent is a volunteer humanitarian organization that supports official authorities in times of peace and war.
Festival Plaza offers a complimentary shuttle bus service every 20 minutes from Energy and Ibn Batutta Metro Stations, as well as Ibn Battuta RTA bus station, making it easier than ever to get to and from the mall. Whilst a hala pick up point is located outside the community mall entrance.
